Pastoral Council

Christ the King is entering an exciting new chapter of leadership and renewal, as we thank Bishop Larry for his dedicated service and welcome Bishop Mark Bartosic as our new parish administrator. In response to broader changes in the Archdiocese, our Pastoral Council is expanding its role, guiding parish life alongside a growing team of lay leaders and three new leadership committees focused on Spiritual Ministries, Community Building, and Service Ministries. This is a time of great opportunity, and we invite every parishioner to get involved as we move

Meet the Members...

Bob Davis – Director of Operations

Bob has been with Christ the King Parish for just a short 14 months and his experience thus far has been extremely rewarding to him personally and professionally. He has met and gotten to know some very generous people who clearly possess and demonstrate a deep affection for the school, the parish, and the community. He feels lucky and proud to be associated with this community and he wants to become a bigger part of that. Bob truly desires to play a more prominent role here, and believes he can make an even greater impact.

Christ the King provided them with a sense of community  almost immediately, and the parish and school communities have continued to enrich their lives for the past two decades. Jackie’s involvement in the school and parish, and her relationships  with CK leaders and volunteers, has anchored her to the community and strengthened her faith.

She feels privileged to be part of this parish and look forward to watching CK continue to evolve.

Maura Saas - Service Ministries Co-Liaison

Maura has lived all but three years of her life living in CK! She worked as the Alumni Director and Special Parish Projects Manager for 9 years and has served on several Ministry Committees, including Fiat Lux, Adult Faith Formation, Companions in Faith, Women in Ministry, and the School Advisory Board. Maura understands that Christ the King Parish is the heart of our community, where faith is practiced, lived and shared.  CK School provided a strong foundation in her early years and today, the parish continues to provide faith building through liturgies, service outreach, and social connection. There’s a spirit of welcome and belonging.  It's a place where people come together to support one another through life’s ups and downs. It’s also a wonderful place to raise a family. The parish offers a nurturing environment where children grow up surrounded by love, values, and a supportive faith tradition. Maura feels blessed to be a parishioner.

Mark Saas - Representative for the Independent Review Board for the Archdiocese of Chicago
Mark has been a devoted Christ the King parishioner for 29 years, having “married into” the parish when he and his wife Maura moved here in 1996. Together, they raised their four children in the parish, with all of them attending Christ the King School from kindergarten through eighth grade. Over the years, Mark has actively supported the parish community, serving on the Finance Committee and the School Foundation. He currently serves as the Pastoral Council Representative for the Independent Review Board for the Archdiocese of Chicago, which reviews cases of alleged clergy abuse and makes recommendations to the Cardinal on next steps. The parish has been a cornerstone in Mark’s life through both joyful and difficult times, and he is deeply grateful for the lifelong friendships he has formed within the Christ the King community.

Mark Singler - Member

Mark has been a CK parishioner his entire life. He has served our community in many capacities: CK School Foundation (2021-2023), President during the 30th Anniversary Celebration; Renew My Church Committee Member; Assistant to the Traveling Secretary for the CK Turkey Trot. Mark believes Christ the King Parish is a beacon for all parishes.  The creation and success of the CK School Foundation, the successful navigation of the Renew My Church process to allow CK Parish and School to remain autonomous, while simultaneously actively participating in the creation and operation of the Southside Parish Renewal Program, and now creating a formal organizational structure to allow CK Parish to rely more heavily upon our lay leadership are all examples that provide the roadmap for the future of the Archdiocese of Chicago.  He believes overall success of our parish is primarily due to our multi-generational parishioners, which fosters a true sense of community, of which he is so proud to be part of.  While in a transitional period to lay leadership, he is excited for our future and ready, willing and eager to continue to be part of the success of CK Parish and School.

Pat Stanton - Service Ministries Co-Liaison

Pat has been a CK parishioner for 50 years. He has served as the Christ the King School Foundation President and Board Member, a lector, and has coached several teams. When asked what CK means to him, he replied simply: CK is home.
